Hello! My name is Courtney Koenig and I am currently earning a Bachelor of Arts through the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon. I will be graduating in spring of 2015, with a degree in public relations. I am an aspiring public relations professional with a passion for the fashion industry and hope to pursue a career in corporate PR.
My time spent at the University of Oregon has allowed me to develop strong writing skills, explore a variety of communication tactics, and an ability to think critically. Because of this, I am now ready to apply these skills to my next career opportunity.
This past summer, I completed a retail management internship with Nordstrom. I was able to combine my PR skill set with my love of the fashion industry. I learned how to strategically communicate with customers as well as leaders of the company. I was thrilled to become a brand ambassador for Nordstrom and had the opportunity to develop several professional relationships amongst my mentors. Throughout my internship, my responsibilities included: building and maintaining relationships with customers, proposing a business plan designed to drive business in Nordstrom stores across the country, manage multiple departments while driving sales, and coaching a team of sales associates.
With graduation just around the corner, I hope to find a corporate PR position within the fashion industry. This position would allow me to apply my coursework skills in a corporate setting. I am interested in brand management and media relations.
